Post-Apple Special Event (10/20/2010)

Fortunately, the Mac OSX Lion will be released in Summer 2011. This will give me enough time to save. Damn you Apple people, why do you always come up with these new shit?

Just downloaded FaceTime... Who has a freakin iPhone 4? Call me! Hahahaha! This must be the reason why iChat doesn't seem to be working these days.

And of course the Finale... This is just craaaazy... Like really. Insane. I bet Mac geeks like me are going crazy as we speak. Seriously... The new MacBook Air is just fucking awesome.

Damn you Steve Jobs!

Love affair with Magazines

Even as a little girl, I really love browsing through magazines... Even to the point where I convinced myself I could pass as a model and dress up in pretty dress like those girls in those magazines... Unfortunately for me, big boned girls like myself don't really qualify to become models... It is a fact that the camera adds 20 pounds... I would have looked like a tub of lard trying to fit in 0 sized dresses. Face-wise... No comment. I started collecting when I was 11? Yup, really young... I had the first MEG & CANDY (local) issues ever, I also collected YM, Seventeen, Teen (US issues); Chalk, Cosmopolitan (local and US issues)... As I grew older I converted to a much mature and more fashion/style oriented magazines like In Style, Vogue, People (Style Watch) and of course Preview. I am also very fortunate to be a part of a family who enjoys collecting magazines. Everywhere you go, there will be magazines everywhere... And I'm not even kidding. My mom even had to sell my old Chalk, Meg and Candy issues because there was no space for them in our crazy house.

Yeah... I must say that Magazines played (And still plays) a huge part in my life... Candy was my guide for do's and don'ts when dressing up (When I was around 12...) During my time, Nicole Hernandez, Mikaela Lagdameo (Now Martinez) and Nicole Shultz were the girls often seen on editorials. I'm still a big fan of these girls because I grew up seeing them in magazines. Cosmopolitan (US issues) used to be my favorite magazine... I love their love and lust section, of course their beauty and fashion section. Almost everything I know about boys and life... I got them all from Cosmopolitan. Hahahaha... Which kind of explains why I'm such a feminist. Then yeah... In Style & Vogue. I love all my In Style & Vogue magazines... I never did try to cut any of them because they were just too precious. Oh wait, well there was this two Vogue magazines I regret cutting. I now super wish I never used them on my projects. I grew up with Kate Moss, Amber Valetta, Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington on Vogue covers. I love looking through past issues and get ideas on how to dress up, and what make up should I buy next... But my most favorite part of all these magazines were the Editorials. Hmmmm... I just love looking at these well composed and just oh-so beautiful pictures... I love Romantic, Pixie themed editorials, I also like disturbing but beautiful editorials... Somehow I think I lived in the 20s in my past life. I just love the flapper looks. I love Josephine Baker and the Great Gatsby looks. I love fur, pearls, corsets and laces. I love how glamorous everyone looked during that time. It was as if everyone was required to dress up before they go out of the house... Oh yes... I seriously think I was born during that time. I also like fairy tale editorials... December Vogue issues is something everyone should look forward to... Grace Coddington, my idol... Along with my oh so favorite photographer Annie Leibovitz would compose fairy tale like editorials... I also like Eugenio Recuenco for all his disturbing yet artistic editorials.

I need to work on our final project in class soon... Hopefully my love affair with my magazines could help and inspire me... Just as how they managed to help me in my previous personal dilemmas.

UK is happy-ness!!! :)

I went to my favorite place to shop in the universe earlier today... Bwahahahahaha! UKAAAY! Oh how I love the smell of pre-loved clothes, shoes and bags! I don't care about what other people say/think... Fuck it. I like being different, and yes... I am a proud ukay buff since college! I remember going through all those clothes under the Buendia/Edsa LRT station. Teeeheee! Ang saya lang! Imagine all the clothes you can buy with 2,000php! Ukay is definitely... LOVE!

So okay... Today, I bought a looot of nice stuff from UK... I've decided not to take pictures because I like it when people ask me where I bought my stuff... Hahahahaha. Going back... Here's a list of things I bought today... Trust me... They're all just... Uggggh! Can't wait to go on a trip again!

2 blazers... 1 black and 1 Rum Raisin (a la Sarah Jessica Parker)!!!!!
1 cape... I just super love this cape! I love that it's a coat/caaape!
3 skirts... I bought one black pleated skirt, 1 pink skirt from MNG... It's brand new! With a price tag! And it's in my size!!! And another pink skirt... Super cute!
1 shimmery top... I love the strong shoulders detail!!!

List of things that I saw while going around Ukay...
1.) Blue Miu-Miu tweed pumps - It was in my size and it looks brand new... But it was expensive... Like around 480php. Oh how I would love to have a pair of Miu-Miue shoes!
2.) Black Gucci rubber shoes - I know they're authentic... They're too small though. It was in black and there was the Gucci green and red ribbon by the lace. Super cute.
3.) Pink H&M top - I super liked it... I didn't buy it because they were too small.
4.) White Corduroy Roxy blazer - Too small again.
5.) Light blue denim Jumper - It was just too cute... But I didn't have enough money... So I didn't buy it. Boooo!

Well, that's all for now... I just wanted to share my awesome finds to everyone... All in all, I was able to spend around 1, 200php... Not bad right?! One top from Zara could buy me 7 pieces of pretty clothing! I looove UK!

Their biggest issue to date! Years from now, I could sell this baby for like... 500usd? Yes. I know a lot of you will never understand... But someday you will. I am just sooo happy. Like seriously... I bought tons of Vogue magazines before, but I must say this issue is one of (Or probably THE most) sought after issues of Vogue Magazine everrr.

My top ten fashion icons:

1.) Audrey Hepburn - Who doesn't love AH?! She is my idol/icon... The more I get to know Audrey, I fall in love with her even more. She is a woman with impeccable taste... She prefers clean cuts and lines for clothes... And she is ever loyal to her designer (Hubert Givenchy) just like me... Ohhhh... I just can't get enough of Ms. Holly Golightly!

2.) Carine Roitfeld - Before she became the editor-in-chief of French Vogue... She was a stylist for Elle Magazine and among others... I love her because like the other people on this list, she is indeed a woman of style... Known for her clean cut pencil skirts and blazers/jackets... I love how she can intimidate people with her presence... All of them in awe of her great gift of style.

3.) Christian Lacroix - His runway shows will never be labeled boring... All his pieces are one of a kind... Bursting with lively colors, cuts and symmetry. His runway spectators will never get disappointed. A man who is never afraid to play with colors, either for his haute couture or ready to wear pieces. Christian Lacroix is a legend...

4.) Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel - Who doesn't look up to our dear Coco? She is the epitome of a modern woman's style. She invented the LBD, the Tweed Jacket and skirt combi, the pearls and the lace... It's all very Coco. I love how she wants to stand apart from everyone. Never afraid to become different... And knows what she wants. I love her. I dooo... I wanna be like her someday.

5.) Grace Coddington - Oh myyy... She loves black, and you'd never think that she's a stylist until you see her work... That's what I love about her... Please watch the September issue if you want to know what I am talking about. I love how she enjoys composing romantic editorials/pictures... Fictional editorials... Hmmm... She inspires me more than anybody in this world... I am her biggest fan to date. A very gifted and talented woman. I love her beyond words could ever say.... Oh Grace, what I wouldn't do to be you someday!

6.) Hubert Givenchy is probably the reason why our dearest Audrey Hepburn is one of the most stylish woman in the world. He made all her unforgettable dresses... Who could ever forget that red Givenchy dress she was wearing while walking down the stairs? Hubert Givenchy will always be remembered through his wonderful creations... All classy, with clean cuts and lines... Just the way Audrey likes it.... And me too! :)

7.) Karl Lagerfeld - He is fashion's living LEGEND... Also known as the Magician... Building out of this world gorgeous sets for his Spring/Summer collections... Designing for two of Paris' powerful fashion houses (Namely FENDI & CHANEL)... The man knows NO boundaries, when he wants to do something... He'll make sure he'll gets it and he'll get it good... Have you heard of the real plane flown into the set? What about the magnificent Iceberg? Known for putting the Chanel back into the fashion map... A living legend to the Fashion World. His passion for haute couture got him to where he is now... All hail Karl!

8.) Lauren Conrad - Okay... She's no fashion icon... But she is one of my style idols... I love her laid back/California girl style... So comfortable, yet so classy! Off shoulder tops + Leggings + Short denim shorts + Chanel... So Lauren and sooo ME!

9.) Pierre Balmain - I think that people are giving too much attention to designer labels like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci... That they tend to be too common... Or too generic. I don't know... This is just my opinion. That's why I enjoy vintage pieces. Because they're one of a kind. Nobody is ever going to have the same one... I like being different. That's why I admire people like Coco and Pierre. Because somehow they're known because they're different. They don't follow trends... They stick to the classics. Balmain house is still known for their well fitted jackets/blazers with power shoulders... Leather booths, fatigue, punk... Edgier and more rugged ready-to-wear pieces. Sometimes, I think most designers lose themselves when designing a line for a certain season that they tend to make things that look a bit ridiculous. I don't know... This is just my personal POV... I like well fitted dresses and jackets... I like clean cuts... I adore clothes that could last for ages and through trends and seasons... Just like Balmain.

10.) Sarah Jessica Parker - I am very fortunate to grow up during the Sex and the City era... I love Sex and the City... Sarah Jessica is the only person who made me (And I guess all the women in this world) wish that I have my own walk--in closet in my small apartment! Sarah Jessica Parker for me, is proof that good things come to those who wait... She has been in the industry for quite some time... Nobody knew who SJP was until Sex and the City... She tried all the roles (She was even a witch in the movie Hocus Pocus), she never gave up and kept on going... And look where she is now. So this gives me hope that someday... When the right time comes, I will be great too! :)
